The case of two Iranian women, Maryam Rustampoor, 27, and Marzieh Amirizadeh, 30, suffering in Evin prison, simply for converting to Christianity, has been taken up by the Bishop of Rochester, Dr Michael Nazir-Ali, who steps down soon as a diocesan to concentrate on helping persecuted Christians around the world.

Two Iranian converts to Christianity (Marzieh Amirizadeh, 30, and Maryam Rustampoor, 27) are standing strong in their faith, according to a report from Iran by the Farsi Christian News Network.

Women’s Prayer Vigil for Maryam and Marzieh in Iranian Prison

Maryam Rostampour and Marzieh Esmailabadi are Iranian Christians who were imprisoned six months ago for converting to Christianity. Attieh Fard, a member of the Iranian Christian Fellowship who is fighting for the religious freedom in Iran, is encouraging Christians to come and pray for them and for the freedom of Christians in Iran, who are unjustly persecuted for their love of God. This will be a quiet prayer in silence and unity.

We were surprised to learn that two women, the 27-year old Maryam Rostampour and the 30 year old Marzieh Amirizadeh Esmaeilabad are being held in prison in Tehran since March 2009 and are sentenced to death because they left Islam and converted to Christianity.
The news has already spread rapidly on the Internet and has caused many negative comments about your country.
We are uniting our voices to that of Sabatina James and many other known and unknown activists and ordinary people, both Greeks and foreigners, demanding that human rights be respected and Maryam Rostampour and Marzieh Amirizadeh Esmaeilabad be released immediately.
